I’ve emailed J. Herbin and expressed my disappointment at their removing of the golden particulates that made the original formula of the inks so unique and beautiful. I know there have always been detractors to the look, but there are more people who love it than hate it.

Here’s the response I received from J. Herbin regarding my question about their dulling down of Rouge Hematite:

Yes, we had to take the gold like die out of the formula as it had a
tendency to thicken too fast and there was a danger of clogging some
fountain pens.
I’m very sorry.

I guess I’ll be taking only tiny sips from my bottle of the original formula like people do with Parker Penman Sapphire and MB British Racing Green…
